Darryl Reckman has developed a new program to help his Streetlight friends earn money. Side by Side got its start when Darryl found himself being asked repeatedly “to lend a few bucks” and realizing that what was really needed was a way to provide a suitable work environment. The pilot project is off to a very good start, with a focus on cutting grass, landscaping and flooring. And more services are on the way! The program includes weekly one-on-one time for goal setting and budget planning, and provides supervision and opportunities for on-the-job learning. Darryl and his team are looking for work and organizations to partner with to help the program become self-sustaining. If you have some work they can help you with, please call 519-686-0093. Most of the wood that we cut from the bush went to his place which he heats completely by the use of an external wood-burning furnace throughout the winter.
