Unlike the stereotypes of being "selfish" and "self-centered", many of the teens we encounter truly want to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. One person described the Project Serve experience this way, "It's your ticket to the physical, mental, social and spiritual adventure of a lifetime". The place is somewhere either in the third work or an area of Canada where human and spiritual needs are especially acute.
The project meets a critical need. It may involve construction work or assisting in a medical clinic. It could be working along side an existing church or specialized ministry, distributing Bibles or running a Vacation Bible School for children using sports, music, drama and/or crafts program. Whatever the project, God's love is clearly presented and lives are impacted for Him.
The skills required range from little or none to a variety of leadership, professional, technical, musical or dramatic abilities. The important requirement is an intense personal desire to be an open channel through which God's Holy Spirit can work.
The duration is anywhere from a week to a few weeks, depending upon the project location, purpose and time of year. The cost also will vary depending upon location, purpose and length of stay.
The results are always very special. Tremendous human needs, both physical and spiritual are met. Your life in Christ is marked forever by the friendships, hard-work, skills learned, memories made and spiritual insights gained as you see God's hand at work in you and through you, in His big world.
Project Serve trips are designed primarily for high school students, but college students and adults may participate as well. Adults with skills in the building trades, cooking, ministry leadership and medial professions are particularly helpful.
Each Project Serve participant is responsible to raise funds to cover the cost of their trip. will provide ideas and materials to help you raise the necessary funds. Many participants from previous trips give exciting reports of how their faith has grown as God showed His faithfulness in the fund raising process.
